What is MongoTrader?

MongoTrader is a paper-trading platform for stocks and crypto. Every trade uses virtual cash, so there's no financial risk — but the market data, order types, and execution behavior closely mirror a real broker. Use it to practice, test strategies, compete in leagues, and build algorithmic bots.

You can run multiple portfolios at the same time, enter head-to-head trading leagues for MongoCoin ($MON) prizes, and attach automated algorithms. Premium and Max subscribers also get leverage up to 100x and access to the live market news feed — see the plan page for the full feature breakdown.

Create your account

  1. Sign up with an invite code. Enter your email and chosen username, then verify your email address. Your invite code determines your initial $MON balance and tier eligibility.
  2. Verify your email. Click the link we send you. Until the email is verified you can browse the app but cannot submit support tickets or enter leagues.
  3. Set your preferences. Head to Settings and configure your display name, avatar, timezone, and preferred landing page.
  4. Enable 2FA (optional but recommended). Under Security, scan the QR code with Google Authenticator or 1Password, then confirm with a six-digit code.

A quick tour

Every page is reachable from the left sidebar. Here's what each section does:

  • Trading — your portfolios, positions, order entry, and order history. This is home base.
  • Leagues — browse public competitions, join leagues, and track standings.
  • Research — live news, analyst ratings, screeners, and market overview data.
  • Friends — follow other traders, compare portfolios, and chat.
  • Wallet — claim your daily $MON, view transactions, and manage your balance.
  • Account & Settings — profile, security, subscription, and API keys.
  • Support — FAQ and support tickets; this docs site is linked from there.

MongoCoins ($MON)

$MON is the in-platform currency. You use it to enter leagues and unlock cosmetic rewards. You never spend real money on $MON — you earn it.

  • Daily login reward. Log in once per day to claim free $MON. Consecutive logins grow a streak multiplier.
  • League prizes. Top finishers in a league receive $MON from the prize pool when the league closes.
  • Tier bonuses. Premium and Max tiers earn larger daily rewards automatically.
  • Achievements. One-time awards for milestones like your first 10 trades or first winning league.

Place your first trade

  1. Open Trading. Click Trading in the sidebar. If you haven't created a portfolio yet, you'll be prompted to create one — start with the default $100,000 virtual balance.
  2. Find a stock. Use the search bar. Type a symbol like AAPL or a company name like Apple. Click the result to open the chart.
  3. Open the trade panel. Click Buy or Sell next to the stock. Enter a quantity, pick an order type, and review the estimated cost.
  4. Submit. A market order fills instantly during market hours. A limit order sits open until the price reaches your limit. You can watch the status on the Orders tab.
  5. Track your position. Your new position appears on the Positions tab with real-time P&L. Hover over any row for more detail.

Paper markets never sleep

Since this is a paper platform, you can submit any order type at any hour. MARKET orders placed while markets are closed fill at the last known price — a simplification compared to a real broker.

Next steps

Once you're comfortable placing trades, these are the natural places to go next:
