App

What research includes

The Research page is your market-awareness hub. It pulls together the information you need before placing a trade — live market status, breaking headlines, analyst consensus, curated screeners, and the symbol pages every ticker has behind it. Everything here uses the same real-time data that powers the trading engine.

You don't need to pay extra for research data. Every tier — Free, Premium, and Max — sees the same news, ratings, and screeners. Premium and Max unlock saving extra watchlists and a longer research history.

Market overview

The top of the Research page shows the overall market at a glance:

  • Major indices — S&P 500, Nasdaq, Dow, Russell 2000 — with live price and percent change since the prior close.
  • Market session — whether pre-market, regular hours, after-hours, or closed.
  • Sector heatmap — the 11 S&P sectors colored by day-change, so you can see at a glance what's rotating.
  • Crypto rollup — top tokens and 24-hour change.

Prices update in real time

Quotes refresh in place — no page reload. If you see a stale number, check the connection indicator in the footer. A dropped WebSocket automatically reconnects.

News feed

The news feed aggregates headlines from major financial wires and tags them by symbol, sector, and topic. Breaking news is pinned at the top.

  • Filter by symbol — enter a ticker to see only articles mentioning that stock.
  • Filter by topic — earnings, M&A, macro, central bank, regulatory, etc.
  • Sentiment indicator — each article is tagged positive / neutral / negative based on the headline.
  • Open in new tab — headlines link to the original source so you can read the full story.

On any symbol page, the news section is auto-filtered to only that ticker's coverage.

Analyst ratings

Wall Street analyst consensus is aggregated per symbol. For each covered stock you'll see:

  • Consensus rating — strong buy / buy / hold / sell / strong sell.
  • Average price target and range (low / high).
  • Recent upgrades and downgrades — which firms changed their view and when.
  • Target vs. current price — the implied upside or downside from today's quote.

Ratings lag price

Analyst coverage updates on a delay. Treat it as a sanity check on your own thesis, not as a live trading signal.

Stock screeners

Screeners are curated, continuously-updated lists of stocks matching a theme. You can click any row to open the symbol page and trade directly from there. The defaults:

  • Top Gainers — biggest percent movers on the day (volume-filtered to avoid micro-caps).
  • Top Losers — biggest declines.
  • Most Active — highest share volume.
  • 52-Week Highs / Lows — stocks printing new year highs or lows.
  • Sector Leaders — top performers within each of the 11 sectors.
  • Unusual Volume — stocks trading far above their average daily volume.
  • Earnings This Week — upcoming earnings on the calendar.

Each screener refreshes throughout the trading day. You can pin favorite screeners to the top of the page.

Per-symbol research

Clicking any symbol in the app — from a position, a news headline, a screener, or the search bar — opens that symbol's research page. Everything you need to evaluate a trade is on one screen:

  • Price chart — multi-timeframe candles (1m, 5m, 15m, 1h, 1d, 1w), with volume and common overlays (MA, EMA, Bollinger).
  • Key stats — market cap, P/E, dividend yield, beta, 52-week range, average volume.
  • Company description — sector, industry, and a short profile.
  • Earnings history — last several quarters of reported vs. expected EPS and revenue.
  • Symbol-specific news — filtered news feed for this ticker.
  • Analyst ratings — the full breakdown for this stock.
  • Trade panel — place orders without leaving the page.

Watchlists

A watchlist is a personal shortlist of symbols you want to monitor without holding. Use them to track ideas, candidates for future trades, or stocks you follow for general curiosity.

  • Add any symbol with the star icon on its page.
  • Your default watchlist appears in the sidebar for quick glance.
  • Each symbol row shows price, day change, and percent change — the same live data as the trading quotes.
  • Click any row to jump to that symbol's research page.
  • You can create multiple named lists (e.g. Swing Ideas, Earnings Season, Crypto Watch) on every tier. The cap on tickers per list scales with your plan.

Suggested workflow

A typical research-to-trade loop on MongoTrader:

  1. Skim the market overview and news feed to understand the day's tone.
  2. Check the screeners (especially Top Movers and Unusual Volume) for anything pressing.
  3. Open a candidate's symbol page. Read the news, review the chart, and check analyst ratings.
  4. If you like the setup, place a trade from the symbol page's trade panel. If you're still thinking, add it to a watchlist for later.
  5. Once positioned, keep the symbol's news filter open so you hear about any material update fast.
